Victimisation Surveys 2019
Institut Opinòmetre has carried out the fieldwork for the Victimisation Survey 2019, an annual official statistical operation included in the Catalonia Statistical Plan Act. The survey aims to understand the population’s perceptions of safety and their experiences of victimisation during 2018.
The survey was carried out in two phases: one covering 36 municipalities in the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, commissioned by IERMB (EVAMB 2019), and another in the city of Barcelona, commissioned by Barcelona City Council (EVB 2019):
- In the Barcelona Metropolitan Area, CATI methodology (computer-assisted telephone interviewing) was used to conduct 3,617 surveys among randomly selected residents aged over 18, who had previously received an invitation letter. Fieldwork took place during April and May.
- In Barcelona, a multichannel strategy was used: CAWI (online surveys with telephone support) for people under 65 and CATI (telephone interviews) for those over 64. All had been invited by letter. A total of 1,049 surveys were conducted during June.
